A leading manufacturer in the automotive industry recently turned to Gexpro Services for help after experiencing unexpected label adhesion issues that were impacting production efficiency.
When the customer began seeing a sudden increase in label failures on foam materials, production came to a halt. The labels simply wouldn’t adhere, creating costly delays and frustration across their operations. They needed a solution, and they needed it fast.
The Challenge
After connecting with our team, the customer described frequent adhesive failures. It wasn’t immediately clear what was causing the issue, but our Labels and Literature Specialist, Jim Rihaly, began asking the right questions. By taking time to understand the production environment, Jim discovered that high humidity was the root cause affecting adhesive performance.
Working closely with the customer’s engineering and production teams, he tested several materials and adhesives to validate performance under real-world conditions and identify the right long-term solution.
The Solution
Jim developed a two-part plan to restore efficiency and prevent future issues.
Immediate Fix: Utilizing the labels they already had on hand, he recommended a surface adhesion promoter to improve the label bonding in humid conditions. Jim arranged for our team to supply it directly to the customer for quick implementation.
Long-Term Solution: He sourced and qualified a new label with stronger adhesive properties specifically engineered to perform reliably in high-humidity environments.
The Results
Once the new solution was applied, the results were immediate and measurable. The customer went from an average of 67 label defects per day to zero.
The Takeaway
This project wasn’t just about solving a technical issue. It was about building trust through partnership, problem-solving, and speed. By listening, diagnosing, and acting quickly, our team turned a production challenge into an opportunity for collaboration and long-term improvement.
This success highlights how Gexpro Services’ engineering and supply chain experts work together to provide rapid, data-driven solutions that keep customers operating with precision and reliability.
