The transition from college graduation to a meaningful, impactful career can be challenging. But what if your first two years out of school offered hands-on experience in four different departments, created global impact, and helped you become an indispensable problem-solver?
That’s the reality for participants in the Gexpro Services Student Leadership Program (SLP). As we open recruitment for this fall’s cohort, we’re looking back at the incredible journeys of our two most recent SLP graduates to show what you’ll gain: more than just a job, you’ll get a foundation for a career built on real-world projects and lasting growth.
Global Experience, Local Impact: The Rotational Advantage
The core strength of the SLP is its two-year rotational model, designed to give participants a 360-degree view of the supply chain business. For Christianna Woodard, a recent graduate with a Management degree in Supply Chain, this was the exact draw.
“I’m the type of person who likes to understand every aspect of how something works,” Christianna explained. “Learning more about their rotational program… it was a perfect fit.”
Christianna’s journey is a prime example of the program’s versatility, taking her through:
- Sales Project Management (Greenville, SC): Handling international aftermarket accounts and classifying new parts.
- Operations Manager Support (Supporting Atlanta from Greenville): Optimizing a newly relocated warehouse, working hand-in-hand with the team, and problem-solving for eight months straight to make daily operations more efficient.
- Procurement & Sourcing (Irving, TX): Working as a versatile buyer and leading key projects like overhauling import shipment reporting to address tariff impacts.
This immersive experience teaches SLPs not just what each department does, but how they all work together.
The Power of the SLP Program: Leaving Your Mark
The SLP is about impact. Participants are trusted with mission-critical projects that often change the way the company operates.
Christianna’s Container Dashboard: An Idea that Went Company-Wide
Christianna is most proud of the Container Dashboard she spearheaded during her operations rotation. Initially built to improve communication between the Greenville warehouse and sales teams, the tool quickly grew beyond her site.
“He ended up pitching my dashboard to [leadership]… and she said, ‘This is what every site that runs with containers needs,'” Christianna recalled. “We’ve been asking for something like this for years.”
Today, her Container Dashboard is a template used by all Gexpro Services sites that manage international container shipments. It’s a lasting accomplishment with company-wide impact.
Justin’s Perpetual Inventory System: Solving a Decades-Old Problem
Justin Brown, whose rotations spanned Program Management, Operations, Manufacturing, and a global assignment, tackled a problem the company had been trying to solve for years: transitioning from a disruptive annual physical inventory count to a Perpetual Inventory (Cycle Counting) system.
“People have told me that the company has tried to make this transition many times, but it hasn’t gotten as far as it has now,” Justin shared.
Justin’s project took over a year from conception to approval. He developed a baseline, ran successful trials in Greenville, and presented the results to auditors. The system was ultimately signed off company-wide, allowing warehouse teams to count small, manageable quantities daily and continuously correct root causes, fundamentally improving inventory accuracy and efficiency.
